The best time in Tavira to experience
Fiesta time is the last week in June. It really is a fabulous time. The gardens
and squares on both sides of the river are decked with flowers. The beer is flowing
and the sardines are on the grill. Dancing in the streets, live music and a general
sense of fun.
The carnival parade
is a time for the local town to let their hair down. The floats all try to outdo
one another, and to us a strange sense of humour. You lose count of the noddy
characters, and the fairy princesses, quite a few oriental themes abound.
During August there are lots of open
air activities, craft fairs, live music, book and music clubs. Festival
of St Martin is normally celebrated with a large local market which is held for
a few days. |
